SalTraP® – International PCT No. WO 2018/224738 (publication 2018)

Distillation unit design particularly suited to the processing of difficult-to-desalt petroleum and/or opportunity crudes

The principle of SalTrap® is based on the on-stream continuous entrapment, and draw-off of the corrosive salts formed during operating phases.

It consists in removing chloride salts at the earliest opportunity before they could cause any damage or safety incident. SalTrap® applies to CDU and VDU. It shall be installed in the draw off system of the top section of the columns, at the closest of the column.

This solution is adjustable to all crude oil distillation units and makes it possible to compensate the limits of desalter efficiency and the risk of formation of extremely corrosive chloride salts (HCl/Ammonia, HCl/Amines, etc.) in the columns. This risk is even more accentuated when the operating temperature of the columns is lowered in order to valorize a maximum of product (distillates).

This technology can be implemented during the design phase (new units) or added to any operating unit. It therefore offers a real perspective to refineries and the opportunity to improve their margins by treating a greater variety of petroleum products on the market without exposing themselves to the risk of major damage.

Eco-friendly solution to secure the processing of corrosive crude oils and to protect Distillation Units

This solution is based on the focused injection of high-temperature steam into the distillation unit, being the gateway to the refinery. This steam, if correctly dosed, forms a thin and crystalline protective layer (oxide based) on the equipment.

In addition to its exceptional performance, the specificity is that this technology is completely ecological and do not use any chemical product.

CRYSTAL-Guard®, offers a real perspective to refineries and the opportunity to improve their margins by processing corrosive crude oils (high TAN, high sulfur, etc.) without fearing deterioration of High Temperature equipment. CRYSTAL-Guard® offers an exceptional protection with neither fouling, plugging of equipment downstream of the injection points nor catalyst impairment in downstream units (e.g. HDT unit).

Standard reliable testing procedure for Heavy Wall Pressure Vessels fabrication

WINTECH Global was awarded by the elite Oil & Gas community to initiate and coordinate an International JIP program. This program was elaborated in response to a definite industry need to prevent cracking problems during Heavy Wall Pressure Vessels fabrication (Oil Refining & Petrochemical applications).

As a result of the Joint Industrial Program, a standard testing and quality control procedure was developed. This procedure was officially agreed by the Sponsors community chaired by Fluor and then incorporated as an appendix of American Petroleum Institute recommended practice API RP 934-A – Materials and Fabrication of 2 1/4Cr-1Mo, 2 1/4Cr-1Mo-1/4V, 3Cr-1Mo, and 3Cr-1Mo-1/4V Steel Heavy Wall Pressure Vessels for High temperature, High-pressure Hydrogen Service.

Online monitoring tool for multiphase fluids separation control

WINTECH Global® has developed an innovative solution to establish the intrinsic “separability” of liquid-liquid mixtures and, amongst others, the one of produced water-oil emulsions.

This online qualification under real-life conditions is of greatest importance, not only to integrate all key parameters influencing the fluid behavior, but also to monitor the inevitable variations in crude oil characteristics over time.

This universal solution is applicable for different fields such as oil production (offshore oil platforms or onshore sites), waste water treatment and decontamination industry.

Unifying project to establish the referencing tool for Crude Corrosiveness Qualification and Ranking

To date, the appreciation of traded oils is based upon their physico-chemical properties on one hand, and their corrosivity on the other. The corrosive nature of Oil is typically assessed from its sulfur content and/or its Total Acid Number (TAN). And yet, the oil community agrees to state that these parameters are not sufficient to establish the overall corrosive potential of a given Oil.

In reply to this, Wintech Global proposes the implementation of NeuroNACTM , an analytical approach integrating all parameters contributing to the characterization of an oil identity so as to evaluate, in a fully transparent way, its intrinsic acidity.
